Traumatic Brain Injury and Hyperbarics


Studies have found that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) may provide incredible benefits for traumatic brain injury (TBI). The International Hyperbarics Association (IHA) lists the following as demonstrated benefits of HBOT for traumatic brain injury:

  • Enhances memory and mental performance

  • Increases stem cell mobilization and proliferation

  • Improves memory and reaction times

  • Stimulates neurogenesis and neuroplasticity

  • Enhances overall executive function

  • Attenuates the effects of hypoxia and inflammation on the brain

  • Improves fine and gross motor skills
